Internet, we need to have a talk.
You know that hellishly popular gif of the disabled character from Glee, that says “preach”?
You do realize that he is able-bodied, right? And he’s engaging in crip-drag by pretending to be disabled for a part?
And that’s really offensive on a whole bunch of different levels, and pretty ableist and not okay?
I have a physical disability that gives me mobility issues, and every time I see that gif I feel like shit.
This article explains why Glee’s treatment of people with disabilities is so shitty better than I could.
I really hate that gif and I try to ignore it when it gets posted, but come on.
So is it the same kind of offense if it’s an actually disabled person because it’s “inspiration porn”?
