ok
I really hate this “the dictionary was written by white men” excuse for redefining the word racism as “power + prejudice”. If it were true, wouldn’t we have to redefine every single word in the English dictionary because all of those definitions have been tainted by white male privilege? And why do y’all think that this “power + prejudice” is so much more useful? It was developed by a white woman (google: Judith H. Katz) so, under your logic, shouldn’t that definition be invalid as well? Oh, I guess not ‘cause she ~understands the struggle~
um
no
All I see you ~conscious PoC~ doing is using that definition to excuse racism against Asians (cuz theyre privileged yall!!11), calling white people crackers, erasing Islamophobia caused by PoC, and lazily invalidating any opposing arguments because “white people are white so therefore they don’t know anything about anything”.
So please take an entire stadium of seats or, as you guys would say, “EAT A BAG OF COCKS U RACIST CUNTS!!”
Race, and therefore racism, are fluid concepts that vary greatly due to location, culture, and history… because they are entirely socially constructed. While it is true that there is a dominant current of white supremacy and Eurocentrism on a large portion of the world (via imperialism, colonization, etc.) it is simply unwise (if not impossible) to redefine an entire experience simply because we are some of its victims. Seriously, is it fair game for a male rape victim to redefine rape as “only experienced by men” because they’ve experienced rape? I think not.
This is becoming rather long winded, but I just needed to say that we must be more productive (and intelligent) in tackling societal and institutional racism, rather than screaming “I HATE WHITEY” at the top of our lungs…
